This little five-year-old’s Presence Of Mind Saves The Life Of His Mother

Little Alfie Harris knew just what to do when he found mum Gemma at the bottom of the stairs

Alfie Harris, a 5-year-old boy had the presence of mind to call the ambulance when his mother, Gemma Harris, fell down after catching her foot on her jogging bottoms. She hit her head on the banister and became unconscious.

Her son immediately dialled to an ambulance, the practice he had developed after watching his favourite cartoon.

She said: “If it hadn’t been for Alfie, I don’t know what I’d have done. I couldn’t even move to reach a phone.

“To this day, I don’t think Alfie realises that he saved my life.

“He thinks it was no big deal, but he’s a superhero.”

Alfie’s stepdad, Robbie Denton was out on work and she was home looking after the super kid who was little sick. She continued: “I screamed out Alfie’s name as I fell, but I don’t remember anything after that.”

Though she was groggy, she could hear Alfie on the phone, speaking to emergency services, telling them, “Mummy isn’t talking or moving.”

Gemma said: “He knew about the emergency services through watching Fireman Sam, his favourite TV show.

“There was an episode where they were talking about dialling 999, and how ambulances are for people who’ve hurt themselves.”

Once the medics arrived, she was taken care off and Robbie joined her in the hospital. Meanwhile, the kid was picked by his grandparents as Gemma didn’t wanted him to see anything traumatic at hospital.

Now, Gemma has fully recovered and Alfie is back to his cheerful, cheeky self.

She said: “The first time I saw him out of hospital, he hugged me really gently as he didn’t want to hurt me.

Gemma hailed Alfie as her ‘superhero’ after he called an ambulance because he has seen someone do the same on Fireman Sam

“I told him how thankful I was, but he doesn’t realise quite how much he saved me.”

She continued: “Thankfully he’s not traumatised by what happened. He’s taken everything in his stride, he’s such a little dude.

“Now, I want to show other parents how important it is that kids know how to deal with emergencies. I never thought it’d be Fireman Sam who came to my rescue.”
