Some men admitted they had consensual sex with the accused and gave her money in return
A woman, who was caught at a men’s labour accommodation, admitted in the Court of First Instance a charge of working in prostitution.
The 30-year-old Nigerian woman, on a visit visa, was allegedly arrested after being caught with men in their accommodation on October 15.
“I was on duty when we were informed about a problem at a labour accommodation in Al Quoz Industrial area.
We went to the scene and found the security guard was restraining suspects,” a policeman told the investigating prosecutor.
“We asked the guard what was the problem about and he said the place was for men. The guard told us he saw a woman – the accused – walking out of a room,” the policeman said.
Some men admitted they had consensual sex with the accused and gave her money in return. The woman denied the charge at first but she confessed later that she had agreed to have sex with the men for Dh150 each.
The police apprehended all involved and took them into custody. The men involved have been referred to the Court of Misdemeanors and will face charges of illicit consensual sex.
The woman accused has been detained. The court will hand down a ruling on January 9.
