The Advisory Council held its regular weekly meeting under the chairmanship of its speaker speaker HE Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud.
The meeting was attended by the HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani in response to the invitation of HE Speaker of the Advisory Council to preset the foreign policy of the State of Qatar in light of the imposed unjust siege.
HE Al Mahmoud appreciated the policies and directives of emir towards siege and expressed council’s full support to HH the Emir and the wise, rational and sublime measure he took.
The speaker also confirmed that the council is cooperating with the government in order to implement the directives on the matter.
Meanwhile, HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister speech and discussions focused on the unjust siege and the policies of the State of Qatar in dealing with the matter and the measures it has taken.
The minister also spoke about the role of Emir of Kuwait and his mediation efforts to end the crisis. The talks also focused on the regional and international relations of the State of Qatar and its stances towards the region’s issues especially the Palestinian cause and Syrian crises and their developments, as well as the war in Yemen and the situation in Libya.
There was also discussion about Qatar’s relations with Iran and the efforts of Qatar to combat terrorism. The Qatari-US strategic dialogue and its outcomes of strategic partnership commitments between both countries was also discussed.
The minister was thanked by the speaker for responding to the questions and inquiries of the Council members. The Council then reviewed the meeting agenda, where they discussed the report of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee on the draft law to establish a national council for tourism.
Finally, the council decided to refer the draft law to the committee for further reviewing in order to take into account the observations made by the Council members and providing them with the Committees’ recommendations thereon.
