Chairman of the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) HE Dr Ali bin Smaikh al-Marri has asked the European Union (EU) nations to stop being neutral in the Gulf crisis and join international human rights organisations calling for an immediate end to the siege imposed on Qatar.

He said that neutrality was not an option, because impartiality may amount to collusion and encourage those involved to continue their violations of human rights, which are criminalised by international laws and conventions.

Al Marri highlighted the official report of United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and condemned the siege imposed on Qatar by Saudi-led bloc.

Al Marri made his statements during his visit to France as part of a European tour including Germany.

He also discussed the impacts of siege with the French officials and the efforts exerted by the National Committee for the defence of the victims and the legal procedures initiated to follow up those involved in the violations.
