Saudi billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, who was arrested as part of government’s anti-corruption crackdown was released after more than two months.
The wealthy prince who has stakes in global giants like Twitter and Apple was detained after allegations of corruption. However, he said in an exclusive interview that he expects the charges against him to be cleared.
“There’re no charges. There’re just some discussions between me and the government. I believe we’re on the verge of finishing everything within days,” the 62-year-old had said in the televised interview.
Meanwhile, an official was quoted as saying that the Prince was released after a financial settlement approved by the state prosecutor.
The other prominent names who were released includes MBC TV Channel owner Waleed Al Ibrahim, former head of the royal court Khalid Al Tuwaijri and fashion retail shop tycoon Fawaz Alhokair.
