Qatar, Russia Ink Defence Deal

Minister of State for Defence Affairs HE Dr Khalid bin Mohammed Al Attiyah met his Russian counterpart Sergey Shoygu and his accompanying delegation in order to sign a technical military cooperation agreement.

The two also discussed bilateral relations and ways of improving them, as well as mutual cooperation in defence and military fields.

A MoU relating to air defence, and a legal contract on general conditions was also signed on the occasion.

The meeting also saw discussion on the current developments in the region, particularly the Gulf and Syrian crises. The two sides also reviewed the efforts of the two countries in the fight against terrorism and extremism.

The two sides concluded after appreciating the relations between the two friendly countries and their continuous development in all economic, investment and cultural fields, as well as the military technical cooperation. The meeting was attended by high-ranking officers at the Qatari Armed Forces.
