NHRC Appreciates Qatar’s Efforts To Protect Rights Of Workers

The National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) applauded the decision of Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs and its focus on the protection of the rights and duties of workers and employers.

The committee was happy with the approval by the Council of Ministers on 25/10/2017 of a draft law amending the provisions of Article 7 of Law No. 21 of 2015 regulating the entry and exit of expatriates and their residence amended by Law No. 1 of 2017.

The law stipulates that the workers shall be relieved without the need to present a notice of leave except for a class of workers whose nature of work requires prior notification to the employer.

The committee also praised the announcement to take required measures and prepare programs that aims at increasing awareness through workshops and seminars for employers in order to ensure that the amendment is properly applied.

The committee said it was ready to cooperate with all concerned parties in order to ensure the success of this positive move.
