The UN General Assembly has re-elected Qatar to the UN Human Rights Council for a fourth round of three-year term for 2018-2020, at its 72nd session.
Qatar got a total of 155 votes out 193 votes. The re-election is a testimony Qatar’s active and pioneering role in the protection and promotion of human rights at the international level through its active membership in the council in three terms.
The Foreign Ministry welcomed Qatar’s re-election. It said in a statement that the victory reflects the international community’s confidence in the active and positive role played by Qatar.
