Nigerian Foreign Minister Geoffrey Onyeama has asked the Saudi group to end the blockade on Qatar and said it was a ‘bit extreme’ and ‘not the way to go’.
Onyeama added that Nigeria has been asked by both the parties to support their cases in the ongoing crisis. However, Nigeria decided to stand by Qatar, saying it has not seen any evidence to support the siege which only causes trouble to the Qataris and others living in Qatar. He urged both the parties to resolve the issue through a dialogue.
Oneyama also took exceptions to major accusations by the Saudi-led bloc, especially allegations on Al Jazeera, Iran and Muslim Brotherhood. “The measures that have been taken are very extreme. Maybe they just don’t like Qatar doing its own thing, but that’s for them to say,” a daily quoted him as saying.
