The International Police Organisation (Interpol) removed the name of Dr Yusuf Al Qaradawi, the head of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, from the wanted list after it was found that the alleged charges against by the Egyptian regime were fabricated, Arab Organization for Human Rights (AOHR) in Britain said in a statement.

AOHR said that after many correspondence and discussions, the Interpol decided to remove the name. Al Qaradawi is well respected scholar and is based in Doha, Qatar.

Earlier leading Muslim scholars from Turkey had published a statement in support of Al Qaradawi.

“Yusuf Al Qaradawi and other scholars like him are the honour and the conscience of this Ummah,” the statement added.
