A written message was sent to the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, pertaining to the bilateral relations and ways to develop them by the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
The message was handed over by the Foreign Minister H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani during a meeting with the Indian Prime Minister today.
Earlier, talks were held with Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in New Delhi on Saturday.
Indians thanked Qatar for contributing significantly to India’s energy security, being the largest supplier of LNG. The FM assured India of continued Qatari support in this regard through uninterrupted energy supplies.
Indians were assured of safety, welfare and well-being of the Indian community and briefed the Indian side about new labour laws in Qatar which favour expatriate workers.
Sheikh Mohammed was briefed about India’s position that peace and security in the Gulf are of paramount importance for the continued progress and prosperity of the region.
