Qatar has taken a very important step by allowing visa-free entry to the citizens of 80 countries, which will promote the country as a hot tourist spot.
It should be noted that QTA (Qatar Tourism Authority) signed a pact with VFS Global, by partnering with Qatar Airways, to create an online platform for processing visa applications.
This platform was formally launched in June this year and a month later, QTA expanded e-visa services to accept applications from travellers to Qatar aboard all airlines, as well as tourism and hospitality establishments in Qatar.
This year, free transit visa was introduced, which allowed passengers of all nationalities in Qatar to stay in the country for 96 hours.
Qatar Airways Group chief executive Akbar al-Baker, said that the transit visas will deliver around 200,000 additional visitors to Doha in the next 12 months, which will present Qatar as hot destination. To promote Qatar as a global transit hub, the +Qatar campaign was launched in May.
