US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said that Qatar was committed to implement the memorandum of understanding signed (MoU) with Washington on the fight against terrorism.
He said that US was concerned about the dispute because it can destabilise the region and undermine unity among the GCC countries. Meanwhile, he praised the efforts of Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to resolve the crisis.
Tillerson revealed that US was following and remained in touch with all the concerned parties on a daily basis added that the crisis required “significant concessions”, which the United States is now working with the parties concerned.
He informed that he had asked two officials, including retired general and former Middle East envoy Anthony Zinni, to come up with a solution to the end the crisis.
He stressed the parties need to sit down and start a dialogue on the causes of differences in order to reach a solution to them. “United States is committed to resolving this dispute and restoring the unity of the Gulf, which it believes that its unity is very important to help defeat the ISIS group,” he said.
