The Licensing Department at the General Directorate of traffic received 20 applications to start new driving schools in Qatar.
Brigadier Salem Saqr al-Muraikhi, director of the Licensing Department, said that some of the applications have been approved as they satisfied the terms and conditions, which includes having adequate space for the school and sufficient number of vehicles, instructors and training halls, among others.
He said while opening a new building of Al Khebra Driving Academy, that the theoretical part of the test would be developed by schools in consultation with a specialised company under the supervision of the Traffic Department.
Reacting to the complaints that two chances for the road test was not enough, he said that it was approved only after a detailed study of the issue. He also informed that in August, two new vehicle technical inspection stations will be opened in the Al Wukair and Al Sheehaniya areas.
The one in Al Wukair will be available for the inspection of heavy vehicles in the first phase while the next phase will include light vehicles as well.
