Qatar Museums (QM) is offering a limited-edition Culture Pass portraying the iconic ‘Tamim al majd’ image to members of the community interested in signing up to its popular cultural engagement programme. The programme was also recently restructured to include four new membership packages, designed to offer members a variety of discounts and various access to QM institutions.
The extremely limited run of 500 specially-designed ‘Tamim al majd’ branded Culture Passes will be available at the Qatar Museums gift shop at the Museum of Islamic Art and the Doha Fire Station from Sunday, July 16, 2017 until supplies last.
‘Tamim al majd’ was first created by contemporary Qatari artist Ahmed Bin Majed Al Maadheed, who recently hosted a pop-up exhibition of his artworks at the Doha Fire Station. The portrait, widely recognised by its title ‘Tamim al majd’, which translates to ‘Tamim the glorious’, recently went viral on social media and has been seen on cars and buildings in support of the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani.
Khalid Al-Ibrahim, Chief Strategic Planning Office at Qatar Museums, said: “We are extremely proud of Ahmed Bin Majed Al Maadheed, a young contemporary Qatari artist who created this image that has spread so quickly across our country. With only 500 of these unique limited edition cards available, we urge the community to get hold of one and enjoy the array of arts and cultural events and activities that Qatar has to offer.”
The Culture Pass programme offers almost 16,000 members unique access to diverse cultural activities across Qatar.
Sheikha Nouf Mubarak Saif Al-Thani, Head of Partnerships at Qatar Museums, said: “The release of the Tamim Al Majd Culture Pass limited edition cards is another expression of unity and support we have seen among all members of the Qatari community, which also allows our members to take advantage of the wide array of cultural offerings available at QM at this same time. We have also recently restructured our culture pass offerings by developing new tiers that are designed to reach specific audience groups, from families to the academic community.”
Members receive a vast range of benefits from QM and its partners, including access to workshops that develop creative skills and explore exhibition-related themes; dedicated newsletters with all the latest activities taking place in Qatar and abroad in the arts and culture scene; invitations to attend exclusive exhibition openings; private tours of galleries and discounts of up to 15 – 25% at QM cafes, gift shops and selected sites; access to members-only lounges and QM’s world-class call center from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm daily for any inquiries. As well as access to myriad of benefits from its ever-growing list of local and international partners.
The Culture Pass Programme has recently been restructured to include four tiers, three of which are paid for and one of which remains free to the public.
