The Shop Qatar event which was held for a month ended on Tuesday with a QR1mn mega draw, traditional performances and a free concert by singer Majed al-Muandes at the Mall of Qatar. A lady won the QR1mn jackpot and 14 others went back with cash prizes.
“The success of Shop Qatar has given us a great start for 2017, and we look forward to maintaining this momentum with the eighth edition of the Qatar International Food Festival which will take place later this quarter,” Qatar Tourism Authority’s (QTA) chief marketing and promotion officer Rashed al-Qurese said in a statement.
The event featured shopping promotions, outdoor activities, live entertainment, beauty and fashion events, musical performances and comedy acts to provide residents and visitors with a diverse offering.
The event provided the platform for the small businesses to showcase their products through pop-up shops. The products at these pop-up shops are locally designed and produced goods. Five small and medium enterprises under the Bedaya Centre for Entrepreneurship and Career Development also took part in the outdoor activities on the Doha Corniche in the two weekends of the festival.
Free episodes of Siraj, Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development’s new 3D animation ‘edutainment’ TV series were screened. Qatar Airways offered 25% discount to all bookings to Qatar (within the GCC region) to support the event.
