Food outlets across Qatar shutdown for violating laws


Commercial food outlets across the country have been shut down both temporarily and permanently for violating regulations set by authorities.

The Gulf Times reports a grocery store that has been shut down by the Al Sheehaniya Municipality for operating without a valid license.

Mohamed Saif al-Hajri, the director of Al Sheehaniya Municipality, issued an official notice to close the grocery story, in this regard

Similarly, two restaurants have been shut down by the Doha Municipality in the the Rawdat Al Khail and Najma areas, as reported in the twitter handle of Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME).

Both the restaurants have been closed for 10 days and 30 days respectively. The eateries have been reportedly preparing food in unhygienic conditions, as reported by MME.


Ministries conduct joint inspection campaigns

Meanwhile, officials from the Ministry of Municipality and Environment and Ministry of Economy and Commerce conducted a comprehensive joint inspection campaign at the Central Market on Thursday.

The inspectors from the General Control Section at the Municipal Control Department of Doha Municipality and the Quality License and Market Control Department (Markets Section), MEC conducted the joint inspection.

Ali al-Hajri, the head of General Control, said the joint campaign was mainly aimed to develop a joint working mechanism in monitoring markets in the public interest.
