This summer many people from Qatar have or are planning to travel abroad for vacations. Keeping this in view, the Ministry of Interior has issued an advisory reminding citizens of the necessary safety and security precautions they must take before going away on vacations this year.
The Ministry suggested that to prevent fire breakouts due to damaged wiring, short-circuits or sparks, people must follow the necessary procedures such as ensuring that all switches and electricity outlets are not damaged and for that extra safety people who are going away for longer periods of time must cut the electricity supply from the main switchboards in their respective homes. The Ministry issued the advisory via its official Facebook page.
Before going away for vacation people must make sure there are no fire hazards especially in and around the kitchen area.
Gas cylinders should be entirely disconnected from the stoves and kept away in the storage room, the ministry added.
Additionally, those of you who are going away on vacation may ask a trusted friend or member of family to occasionally drop by your house and make sure everything is fine. It is also advisable that you let your local police station or your security company know that you are going away for vacation and for how long you are going away, that would take care of burglars.
Hope you all have a great and safe vacation.
