A bridge providing a direct route to Abu Hamour, Al Mamoura and Salwa Road was recently thrown open for traffic by the Public Works Authority (Ashghal). The new bridge extends from F-Ring Road to Mesaimeer Road.
Additional temporary lanes numbering two are now available for motorists to make a U-turn towards F-Ring Road and reach Barwa Village, the Religious Complex, Al Wakra and the Industrial Area by using a new kilometre long service road, Ashghal stated. Two additional lanes have been made available under the bridge in front of Al Jazeera Academy for motorists looking make a U-Turn.
Part of the Rawdat Al Khail Road project this bridge would make flow of traffic smoother and decongest the traffic in the area. The bridge would connect Doha City Centre with the Industrial Area and also make reaching Barwa Village and commercial area easier and less time consuming. The bridge also links Mesaimeer Street and the Wholesale Market with F-Ring Road.
The new bridge would play a pivotal role in ensuring smooth flow of traffic towards the city of Doha from destinations such as the Hamad International Airport and Al Wakra. Movement from places such as Al Waab, Bu Hamour, Salwa Road towards HIA or Corniche would be tremendously eased by this new bridge as in conjunction with F-Ring Road it forms a 14km long signal free expressway.
Residents of Barwa village have welcomed this development. The businesses in the area are optimistic that the opening of the new bridge would have a positive effect on their work.
The exits at Rawdat Al Khalfat, Al Kharija Street, Al Rabyat Street and Rawdat Al Dabdaba are scheduled to be made functional very soon.
Ashghal’s signature Rawdat Al Khail Road project also includes construction of an 8KM long dual roadway, the six-lane road would include six interchanges viz. East Industrial Interchange, Barwa Village Access Interchange, Woqod Interchange, Al Jazeera Interchange on the F-Ring Road, Barwa and Karwa Interchanges respectively.
