Strong winds resulting in low visibility and dust storms have made driving along Al Wakra-Mesaieed Road inconvenient and dangerous. Due to the ongoing constructions in the area even the slightest of winds blow up large volumes of dust hampering visibility and thereby the smooth flow of traffic.
Driving on this road has become a challenge even for most seasoned drivers even though the speed limit has been reduced to 50kmph. Construction of roads, flyovers etc. leading to the Hamad seaport are the main source of the dust that not only decreases the visibility but also leads to accidents when it accumulates on the road surface.
The road that connects Doha City with Messaieed is used by people working in the Messaieed Industrial City and tourists who visit the Sealine Beach Resort.
The road has become particularly hazardous for bikers. Restaurant owners in the Messaieed area are mainly affected by the dusty conditions on the road as their delivery boys are not able to deliver food to customers by using bikes.
To the relief of drivers the Traffic Department patrols the road round the clock making lives of motorists in need of help easy. In an attempt to minimize the inconvenience of motorists the construction companies offer help to motorists in case of emergencies, the helpline numbers of many companies are displayed along the road at several places.
