Three African men face imprisonment and deportation

In a report published in the local Arabic daily Ar Rayah yesterday, a Doha Criminal Court penalized 3 African men with 3 years jail-time and deportation upon serving their sentence. The trio was found guilty of assault and theft by the Honourable Court. The three African men had reportedly assaulted an employee of a Debt Collection Agency in the Industrial Area, the men had also stolen an amount of QR672, 600 from him as well as a cash counter.

The victim reportedly was on some official business in the Industrial Area, collecting the sums clients owed his company. As the victim was returning to his car with the cash, he was interrupted by two of three men. He was then hit on the head with an object made of iron by one of the defendants while the other snatched the bag of money and the cash counter from him.

The third man was waiting for them in car which they used to run away from the scene of the crime. From the sequence of the events it appears that the crime had been planned well in advance and the trio were aware of victim’s timings and his profession.

Upon detention and subsequent interrogation by the police, the trio confessed of the crime.
