Authorities have sentenced a drug trafficker to 3 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of QR 200, 000 has also been imposed on him. The drug trafficker is a Pakistani citizen, authorities revealed.
The man was found guilty of the crimes by the Criminal Court, the Court also ordered the concerned authorities to deport the man to Pakistan immediately after serving his jail term.
The anti-narcotics squad that arrested the smuggler, in a claim to local Arabic daily Al-Raya, said that the squad seized a packet of heroin and 377 methadone from the smuggler.
The squad had been monitoring the smuggler for a while and when the smuggler got wind of the squad tailing him to shopping hypermarket, he tried to give them a slip but the squad was successful in arresting him with all the illegal drugs.
On questioning the convict has revealed that he used to receive drugs from another dealer who too is a Pakistani citizen, the authorities said.
