In a yet another rear case at Air cargo of Hamad airport, inspectors found 4kgs of cannabis hidden in three loudspeakers. The material was packaged inside the speaker.
In different cases till now customs officials have seized 6.5kg marijuana, 583 Captagon tablets, and 4kg cannabis from various ports of entry into the country.
GAC president Ahmed bin Ali al-Muhannadi has honoured three customs employees from different outlets for their work.
Ahmed bin Ali Al Mohannadi, Chairman of the General Authority of Customs, said that the authority has achieved big success by seizing the banned products.
The first seizure reported at the Hamad International Airport (HIA) when a customs employee felt suspicious about a carton belonging to an Asian passenger. After a detailed inspection by the officer, marijuana wrapped with paper and black sticker was found.
The second incident was reported from Abu Samra border. On inspection, they found out one of the vehicle was carrying a plastic bag with 583 Captagonhidden tablets secretly hidden inside it.
The third seizure was at the cargo, when a customs employee after suspicon opened a package and found four headphones filled with 4kg of cannabis.
In starting this year customs inspectors foiled an attempt to smuggle 12.5 kgs of marijuana into Qatar through the Hamad International Airport (HIA) in two separate operations.
In yet another incident in month of April Qatar customs caught a passenger at Hamad International Airport for carrying 332g of marijuana into Qatar by hiding it in a candy box.
Weed looked to be paste beneath the candy. Also 6.7 grams of opium was also found hidden in his wallet.
Last month Marijuana was found wrapped in carbon paper and hidden in the suitcase of a traveler when a woman customs officer at Hamad International Airport noticed and foiled an attempt to smuggle into the country. The marijuana was seized and the traveller was referred to the concerned security department for necessary legal procedures, as per Gulf times.

The value of contraband was supposed to be more than 1million QAR in black market.
As per reports most of drugs seized in Qatar come through the sea where smugglers use high-speed cruisers, while smugglers have also tried HIA also alternatively but almost failed in every attempt.
